To all Sharks in the Park II (2002) attendees and mailist members:

Thanks to everyone for the GLORIOUS Saturday we had in the park.  We had 31 cars show by our official count (thanks Nicole) and over 60 people.  That's at least 10 more than last year in both cases.  Also, we had some very surprising visitors from distant lands, including John Pohl who now resides in Nevada with his showroom 89 GT, and the long distance winner, Quinn Capson, from Utah with his tasteful S4.  Quinn talked his professors into delaying his final exams so he could attend!  I want him as my agent.

I want to quickly make a few belated acknowledgements.

Firstly, I should have publicly given special thanks to JEFF WALKER who tended the hot barbecue from beginning to end, making sure Allan Mochwart's ribs and all the other faire were cooked just right.  THANKS JEFF!

Secondly, I should have acknowledged another vendor who contributed prizes to our raffle.  *The Auto Enthusiast* accessory shop in Danville donated the Porsche cap and some of the keyrings.  For people in the Danville area, The Auto Enthusiast sponsors an annual "Wash & Shine" with the Diablo PCA chapter.  This year it will be on Sunday, May 26.  There is an entry fee, but you have a very good chance of winning as there are few 928 entries at this point.  Bill Cline won best in his class with his 84S last year.  I plan on entering this year to give Bill some additional competition, but I know I have some work to do on my paint to get mine to look as nice as Bill's 84.  Where's the sandpaper?  To find out more about the Wash and Shine, call Tristan Blackett at The Auto Enthusiast at 925-831-8109.

A REAL BIG THANKS goes to GEORGE SUENNEN.  George was snapping your picture all during the day as he did last year at the first meeting.  George has already posted a selection of pictures with a nicely done summary of the event (as always).  George will be posting a gallery of all his shots.  If you have some nice digital shots and do not have other plans for them, please forward them to me by email attachment and I will forward them to George.  We can't guaranty all images will get posted, but we do our best.  Take a look at George's handiwork here, and don't miss the rest of his website, for that matter:

PS:  As an aside, I want to mention that there was some discussion on one of the 928 message boards about the appearance of the park police officer at our function.  Although everything ended very well, there was some concern about just why the officer was "hassling" a bunch of clean cut adults, some old enough to be his father (me, for instance).  He should have had better things to do, like chase rabid squirrels.  Anyway, I saw the discussion on the message board and I couldn't resist trying to provide a good justification for the officer's investigation of our group.  You will see mention of "Officer Twitty" in George Suennen's event summary, so I wanted to make sure you had the story, as I told it.  REMEMBER my story is a total fabrication, but a couple readers have fallen for it despite the smiley face emoticon.
